Nine volunteers from the River Rouge Operation were hard at work cleaning up parks in the City of River Rouge on June 2. The team has been participating in the River Rouge City Wide Clean-Up Day for several years through Production Supervisor Ryan Zavalney.
“I enjoy the comradery we get together with the guys helping us out,” said Matt Gower, Site Operation Manager. “There’s no distinction between management and hourly employees, which I feel is a major benefit to the plant.”
This year, the volunteers worked for four hours on parks on two streets by removing debris, laying down new mulch, and painting play structures and fencing. The team supplied the labor and all materials needed to get the job done.
“There’s a sense of pride and accomplishment in giving the city, as well as the children and families who use the parks a clean and beautiful place to enjoy,” said Gower.
Carmeuse volunteers helped clean two parks in River Rouge by,
laying mulch, picking up litter, and painting play structures and fencing.
