Last month, seven Carmeuse Lime & Stone Cedarville and Port Inland employees spent two days volunteering at Bay Cliff Health Camp, a nonprofit therapy and wellness center in Big Bay, Michigan, for children and adults with physical disabilities.
The Cedarville and Port Inland plants have been making donations to Bay Cliff Health Camp and volunteering in work bees held at the camp since 2010. In past volunteer trips, Carmeuse volunteers have helped the camp with various renovation projects, including roofing, installing windows, painting and more.
This year, the Carmeuse employees helped paint the camp’s new recreation center, which is set to have its grand opening soon.
While Bay Cliff Health Camp offers year-round therapy and wellness programming, its priority program is a seven-week summer camp session for children with orthopedic, speech, hearing and vision disabilities. The goal of the camp, which serves approximately 170 children each year, is to help the campers learn to become more independent and inspired to believe in their own potential.
