Huron race series continues with Beulah Beach 5K supported by Carmeuse Huron

Huron race series continues with Beulah Beach 5K supported by Carmeuse Huron

The Beulah Beach 5K and Fun Run took place on July 22nd to raise funds for the Beulah Beach Camp and Retreat Center. Participants and volunteers were again supported by the Carmeuse Huron Operation, which provided bottled water and snacks as part of its sponsorship of the six-race series.

The 5K took place over roads and scenic trails through the woods. Zeb Wilson, 18, led home the men’s racers in a time of 19:02.9, with Kara Woodruff, 14, bringing home the women in a time of 23:25.4. A total of 130 competitors took part in the race, with an additional family fun run designed for parents and kids taking place alongside the 5K.

The event was capped off by an evening of food trucks, lake swimming, ziplines, and a free concert. “Beulah Beach was a beautiful location for an evening race. The wooded trails offered a sense of peace for the competitors,” said Huron site coordinator and 5K veteran, Christine Mollison.

Located between Huron and Vermilion, Beulah Beach offers camps for church gatherings, recovery centers, youth programs, sports ministries, and marriage counselling. Funds raised by the race will go towards construction of a much-needed new pier on Lake Erie. Race organizers thanked the Carmeuse team for “all the company does for the community.”

The next race in the Huron 5K is the Abbey Rose Foundation 5K Trail Run and Fun Run on 12 August at Fabens Park in Huron.
