Carmeuse Buffington personnel speak at local high school careers day

Oliver P. Morton High School in Hammond, IN, recently invited employees of the local Carmeuse Buffington Operation to speak at its Career Day. The event—which was co-organized with Junior Achievement of Chicago--provides students with the opportunity to explore potential career paths and learn about fields they are interested about.

It’s the second year running that members of the Carmeuse Buffington team have attended the day and shared their experiences and knowledge with Morton students. This year’s Carmeuse speakers were Area Operations Manager, Matt Gower; Plant Generalist, Belinda Speer; and Site Operations Manager, Ian Fahrenkrog.

“It’s a great event and we are privileged to be a part of it, getting the chance to guide some amazing young men and women in exploring potential careers. We had the opportunity to speak to students—freshmen to seniors—about our career paths and current roles. The students also got to ask us questions and tell us about their goals and passions,” said Letha Carriger—Human Resources at Carmeuse Buffinton.
