Carmeuse Lime & Stone has a corporate history that dates back almost 150 years. The
Carmeuse Group S.A., the
Belgium-based parent company, was founded in 1860. The Carmeuse Group has operations
in 13 countries, with over 100 production plants, over 4,200 employees, and annual sales
of more then 58 million tons of finished products.
The Carmeuse Group entered North America in 1992. Early acquisitions included
Beachville Lime Limited, Marblehead Lime, Inc., Pennsylvania Lime, Inc., Ohio Lime, Inc.,
Millersville Lime, Inc., Detroit Lime, Northern Lime Limited, and Dundas Lime Limited.
The 1998 acquisition of the Pittsburgh-based Dravo Corporation was at that time the latest
component of this successful growth strategy. The company established its North America corporate
office in Pittsburgh.
Today, Carmeuse Lime & Stone has 35 plants that supply and serve most of the USA and
eastern Canada with lime, limestone and silica sand products, and we employ more than
2,400 people. Our corporate offices are in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are
proud of our ability to build a world-class organization that is recognized for our
superior products, our advanced technology and our commitment to satisfied customers.
The rich and versatile history of Carmeuse Lime & Stone and the international
organization of which we are a part sets the stage for a successful future as we
grow in our role as a leader in the supply of high quality industrial minerals.
